A Poem of Reckoning by D.M. of Ivy & Ink

She is not vengeful —
but she seeks justice.
Those who wrong
shall feel her passing —
a slow obscuring,
a sigh before the reckoning.

Her name invokes demand,
and with each call — her veil wanes.
Retribution seeps like twilight,
like Persephone’s whispered return,
step by step,
season by season,
bending the spine of time
to set the balance right.

She walks the path Persephone knows —
half-light, half-loss,
a black hellebore in one hand,
a blade in the other.

She does not chase.
She arrives —
wreathed in waiting,
with frost on her lashes
and gravity in her stare.

Call her by her name —
not rage,
not wrath,
but the resound of every unrighted wrong.

She does not scathe —
but she will serve.
Not with fire,
but with frost.
Not a blade,
but a weight —
measured,
inevitable.

They say revenge is best served cold —
but haven’t you learned?
She is colder still.
A stillness that bruises,
a veil that lingers,
ice in the throat
of those who thought
they’d gotten away.

Call her by her name —
for she does not whisper.
She tolls like a siren
to the sound of the guilty.

Her memory never withers —
and what you hoped to bury,
she will call forth.

Indeed, call her by her name —
and she is Karma.

Editor’s Note
There are poems that rise like fire — and others that descend like an enchanted frost.

Call Her By Her Name is an invocation of consequence. It is not a cry for vengeance, but a quiet reckoning — one that moves slowly and deliberately, like a whisper returning to its source. In this piece, I imagined Karma not as chaos, but as order wrapped in black hellebore. She is mythic, measured, unforgettable, and relentless. She comes slowly, but surely.

This poem is dedicated to those who no longer await retribution — but rather remembrance.
